Beware the Curse of Unintended Consequences.
The opera's original title, La maledizione, refers to "the curse" placed by the Count Monterone upon the flippant Rigoletto and the womanizing Duke. The curse comes to fruition when Rigoletto's only child, his daughter Gilda, becomes entangled in his schemes.
