Our Mission
• To enrich the cultural lives of our community members
• To support rising opera stars in their careers by producing professional opera productions, concerts and international vocal competitions of the highest quality
• To educate and promote an increased awareness and deeper appreciation of opera to expanding and diverse audiences of all ages
Mission Accomplished
• We bring in the best talent from around the world for our lead roles
• We give talented, accomplished local artists the opportunity to perform in our Chorus.
• We cast local children in our operas through our Young Patrons program.
• We have two music education programs for children – our Piano Scholarship Program and our Opera in the Classroom Program – “A Class Act”.
• For adult education, we collaborate with the Vero Beach Museum of Art to present an Opera Studies Lecture each year. New this season, we are collaborating with the Indian River State College’s Fielden Institute for Lifelong Learning to present a 5-week Opera Studies course.
• Through our Vocal Scholarship Program, we award cash prizes and encouragement awards to aspiring young opera singers in our Vero Beach Opera Rising Stars Vocal Competition and the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition Southeast Region & Florida District.
How We Raise Funds
• Ticket Sales
• Advertising Sales for our Mainstage Productions
• Membership Dues
• Direct Donations
• Corporate and Season Sponsorships
• Endowment Fund. Over the past 35 years, Vero Beach Opera has grown into a well-respected, professional opera company because of the work of volunteers and the financial support of our audience. As we look to our future, we must be realistic about our viability, and that’s why we are focused on building our Endowment Fund as we transition to a fee-based professional staff.
