Evelyn Saavedra

Vero Beach Opera audiences know Evelyn as Zerlina in our 2024 Don Giovanni and as Musetta in our 2022 La Bohème.

Praised for her “lustrous soprano voice” and described as “a gifted young singer to watch” (South Florida Classical Review), Cuban-born soprano Evelyn Saavedra is earning recognition for her dramatic artistry and compelling stage presence. In the 2024–25 season, she made her role and house debut as Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi with Opera Roanoke, covered Micaëla in Carmen and the First Lady in The Magic Flute with Florida Grand Opera, and made her Puerto Rico concert debut opposite Metropolitan Opera tenor Rafael Dávila. Previous engagements include performances with Nashville Opera, Vero Beach Opera, and the Madison Symphony Orchestra, as well as concert debuts at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall and Carnegie Hall, where she appeared as a Gerda Lissner Foundation Competition winner. Saavedra holds an Artist Diploma in Opera Studies from The Juilliard School, where she was the recipient of the prestigious Novick Career Advancement Grant.


Juvenal Correa-Salas

Juvenal Correa Salas is a pianist, conductor, vocal coach and lecturer, with over twenty years of international experience as performer, ensemble leader, and educator. His artistry spans early music through contemporary styles. He has collaborated with renowned artists such as Plácido Domingo, Justino Díaz, Anton Coppola, Martina Arroyo, and Krzysztof Penderecki, and has appeared at major festivals across the Americas and Europe. A committed pedagogue, he has held faculty and leadership positions at Indiana University, Florida International University, the Music Conservatory of Puerto Rico, and the Paris Marais Conservatory. Correa Salas studied piano, harpsichord, and conducting at Indiana University and the Music Conservatory of Puerto Rico, and holds a B.S. in Mathematics and Physics from the Central University of Venezuela. He currently directs the opera program and Early Music Ensemble at FIU in Miami, and leads The Libiamo Project, an international Opera Comica initiative, funded in Panama by his wife the soprano Libia Montano, dedicated to democratize opera, bringing performances with non conventional formats to all kinds of audiences.

Seated Dinner: fresh baked bread with sweet butter, Grand Harbor fall salad with romaine lettuce, butternut squash, cherry tomatoes, candied pecans, apples, cranberries, and maple vinaigrette; pan-seared Chilean Sea Bass with roasted tomato and red pepper puree OR grilled filet of beef with brandy, peppercorn sauce and crunchy tobacco onions; green beans & carrots; and twice baked potato.
