Vero Beach Opera Resident Artists to Raise Funds for Other Local Artists
VBO, Inc. presented this special Scholarship fundraising concert through their Resident Artist Program - "An Opera Lover’s Guide to Jazz" at the Community Church of Vero Beach.
The concert featured a local jazz quartet with Tania Ortega-Cowan on vocals, Dr. Ray Adams on piano, Dave Mundy on bass, and Richie Mola on percussion. The concert will include many nostalgic favorites and standards, as well as a special approach to some famous operatic arias. This is the fifth concert in the past 17 years that Tania Ortega-Cowan has sung for Vero Beach Opera, the first being during the inaugural season of the Vero Beach Opera (then Guild) on November 5, 1989, when she flew in from college for the afternoon in order to perform.
Part of the mission of the Vero Beach Opera is to promote local talent by sponsoring professional musicians from the community through our Resident Artist Program. The funds raised by this concert will go toward VBO’s annual scholarship awards to college-bound IRC students majoring in Music Performance/Music Education in Voice/Singing and college students majoring in either Voice Performance or Education.
Tickets were $15 for adults and $10 for students. Return to 2007 Season Page click Ticket information click
