LOVE CONCERT

VBO presented our LOVE CONCERT under the direction of Katherine Olsen, co-founder/manager of "Encompass Arts in New York City."  She is one of the most famous and sought-after opera coach/accompanists in the world today. Additionally, the debut of our VBO mixed strings and wind quartet will enhance this performance. 

Irina Rindzuner, a beautiful lyrico spinto soprano with a stunning voice to match, tenor Robert Zimmermann and special guest, internationally known Baritone Gary Simpson will delight you with this LOVE CONCERT of operatic love themed arias.  See seating chart below
 
We welcomed  Soprano IRINA RINDZUNER, who is highly recognized throughout Europe and in the United States as one of the most promising performers of the operatic stage. Her limitless vocal abilities have enabled her to successfully transition from mezzo to spinto soprano.  She completed her postgraduate  studies in the Ural State Conservatory in Yekaterinburg, Russia and Mannes College of Music, New York City. After graduation Irina won the IBLA International Vocal competition in Raguza, Italy as well as the First Open International Vocal Competition of the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow, Russia. Ms. Rindzuner is at home essaying many diverse roles such as Tatiana in  "Eugene Onegin," Lisa in "The Queen of Spades," Charlotte in "Werther," Cio-Cio-San in "Madama Butterfly" among many others.  She sang in the Montreal Opera Gala and made her Carnegie Hall debut with New York Choral Society as alto soloist in Beethoven's Symphony No.9 in 2003.  The most recent performances of Ms. Rindzuner include the title role in Georges Bizet's  "Carmen" in Tel-Aviv and Yekaterinburg (Russia) and Azucena in "Il Trovatore" in Yekaterinburg. She sang in a joint production with MidAmerica Productions and Silesian Philharmonic Orchestra as Clytemnestra in Tanejev's "Agamemnon" in Poland and Carnegie Hall (cover). Ms. Rindzuner appeared in performances with Norwalk Symphony Orchestra and Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra.  Last season she sang Olga in "Eugene Onegin," Lola in "Cavalleria Rusticana" and Siebel in "Faust" with Tulsa Opera as well as covered Jennifer Larmore in Berlioz's "La Morte de Cleopatre" in Carnegie Hall. Ms. Rindzuner will make her debut this season with the New York City Opera as Santuzza in Pietro Mascagni's "Cavalleria Rusticana."

 Tenor  ROBERT ZIMMERMAN, is a native of Buffalo, NY. Most recently he performed the role of Elder Hayes in Susannah with Dicapo Opera Theater in N. Y.  Mr. Zimmerman was also seen in the summer of 2005 with the Chautauqua Opera Company. He  sang Arturo in Lucia di Lammermoor and was also seen as Cheever in The Crucible. In the summer of 2004 he was part of the V.O.I.C. Experience program in Orlando, Fla. under the direction of baritone Sherrill Milnes. He has also been a participant in The International Institute of Vocal Arts in Chiari, Italy. His operatic credits include Camille de Rossillion in The Merry Widow, Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni, Quint in Turn of the Screw, Nanki-Poo in The Mikado, and Alfred in Die Fledermaus. In recent years Mr. Zimmerman has been seen in performance with Lyric Opera Cleveland, Opera Northeast, Lake George Opera, and Indianapolis Opera. He has also been a soloist with Chautauqua Symphony, Staten Island Symphony, Indianapolis Symphony, and as the Swan in Orff's Carmina Burana with Youngstown Symphony. Robert holds a B.A. from Wagner College in Staten Island, New York, and a Professional Studies Certificate from The Cleveland Institute of Music where he was awarded the Max Bergman award for Vocal Excellence. Mr. Zimmerman was also a winner in the Leiderkranz Foundation Vocal Competition in 2002.

                                                                  
      VBO welcomed back Baritone GARY SIMPSON. During our last Season's Tosca in concert  he sang the role of Baron Scarpia  opposite Ms. Deborah Voigt  Described as "A True Verdian baritone"…Opera News.
Equally at home in the Wagnerian world, Mr. Gary Simpson is fast becoming one of the most significant impact singers in this repertoire. Gary recently sang Amonasro in Verdi’s Aida with both the Orlando Opera and the State Theater in Prague. He sang Rigoletto in Prague and Der Fliegende Holaender for the Hawaii Opera Theater. He stepped in at the last moment to sing a live radio broadcast as Amfortas in Richard Wagner’s Parsifal with the Seattle Opera. Gary debuted with the Deutsche Oper Berlin in Goertz Friedrich’s milestone 300th performance of Puccini’s Tosca, Iago in Otello with the Hawaii Opera, and Scarpia again in Austria at the Opernair Festival in Gars. Future engagements include; the title role of Verdi’s Falstaff in Hagen, Germany and a return to the Seattle Opera for Tonio in I Pagliacci. Mr. Simpson has performed Verdi roles such as: Rigoletto, in Ottawa Canada, Guadalajara Mexico, and also with the Tulsa Opera, Macbeth in Hong Kong and with the Kansas City Lyric, Nabucco in the State Theater in Pretoria, South Africa, Iago with the Minnesota Opera. Gary Simpson has  performed in concert with John Nelson in Shanghai, mainland China in China’s first ever performance of Don Carlos and the West Virginia Symphony in Carmina Burana, As well as the title role in Sweeney Todd with the Toledo Opera. Opera companies include: the Seattle Opera, Los Angeles Opera, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Palm Beach Opera, L’ Opera D’ Montreal, Kansas City Opera, Opera Lyra in Ottawa, Nashville Opera, Opernair Festival, Gars, Austria. Opera Orchestra of New York, Virginia Opera, Hawaii Opera, Opera Fresno, Malta-Gozo Opera, Toledo Opera, Tulsa Opera, and Opera Omaha.
